My Process

I am interested in the function and lifespan of an object. In many cases ceramics can be used by many generations of a family and I strive to produce work of physical substance and visual subtlety to withstand the day to day stresses of our lives. I believe that fine, handmade ceramics can enhance and elevate our lives and culinary experiences beyond the mundane. I produce both functional and sculptural ceramics. Commissions upon request.

I work primarily in clay and occasionally in steel. Much of my output to date has been a mix of functional and Sculptural. My time pursuing my MFA at Cranbrook has allowed me to work more towards the conceptual object and expand my practice in that direction. Like glaze I enjoy a constant flux of my own work and the adventure of new forms. I occasionally reside, teach, and produce work in Seattle, WA.
